Published quarterly since 1976, the Art Libraries Journal (ALJ) is the main international forum of the art library profession worldwide, with contributions from key specialists in art librarianship and visual resources, including librarians, archivists, collection managers, artists, curators, conservators and art historians. Selected conference and symposium papers are also published, including papers presented at the IFLA Art Libraries Section conference.
Coverage offers a wide spread of relevant subjects, ranging from the role of art libraries in a globalized world and the impact of the Internet and digital technology on art documentation, to historical libraries and collections. Special issues focus on specific themes, such as copyright, artists’ books, online repositories and catalogues raisonnés, or particular countries or regions.
